In his own words:
“After stepping into the Manager role, I quickly realized we needed a hiring whiz in our industry. But finding someone who could connect with distributors, reps, and manufacturers like one of us was nearly impossible. Plus, there was no recruiter who had real-life experience across the board in our field. Sure, there were tons of staffing agencies out there, but no one that knew our industry: our products, our ways, our culture. I knew firsthand how much of a headache it was to find, interview, and hire good folks. So, I decided to start up a recruitment firm just for our industry, aiming to link clients with top-notch talent and help job seekers find the next step in their careers. Here we are nearly 20 years later, still adhering to our motto: ‘Integrity and Confidentiality’.”
The Recruiter who first built his knowledge working in the industry!
Wayne began working for Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Inc. (CED) in Southern California. He quickly rose, learning Electrical, Lighting, and Industrial Automation products through Inside Sales, Purchasing, Project Management, and Outside Sales.
During his CED tenure, Wayne also worked at one of CED’s sister organizations, Royal Wholesale Electric, where he garnered specialized training, knowledge, and sales experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley and Schneider/Square D Industrial Automation products.
In line with his ultimate objective to become a Product Specialist in one aspect of the industry, Wayne’s next career move took him to Siemens Energy & Automation as a Switchgear Sales Engineer.
He continued to hone his switchgear skills with another major gear manufacturer – Eaton-Cutler Hammer, Inc.
In 2001, Wayne returned to CED in an Outside Sales role focusing on commercial and industrial markets, where he was promoted to Profit Center Manager.
After more than 20 years working in electrical distributor and electrical manufacturer roles, Wayne began his greatest challenge, starting Electrical Career Specialists in 2005.
A familiar sight at many industry functions, Wayne attends national and regional meetings and trade shows, such as NAED, NECA, NEMRA, IEEE, Automation Fair, and Pack Expo. In 2012, Wayne accepted a Ben Franklin Electric Club of Northern California membership. He often travels from his Southern California office to attend functions and volunteers his time for fundraising events.
Wayne is also involved with other industry charity events, which help to raise money for worthy causes, such as Ronald McDonald House and Make a Wish Foundation.
